I hope that the cryptocurrency value falls. Then again, I managed to get a discount for an EVGA 1070 for cheap - 480. So I’m pretty content with it.

In another universe where GPUs are terrible for mining, the 1070 is a $350-400 card. We’re still getting reamed.

Bought my Gigabyte 1070 for $350 in May ($375 after tax). Got lucky and missed the GPU rise. Full size card too. :)

It’s still flaming bullshit. EVGA still hasn’t contacted me about it and I don’t own a recent enough card to get on the special list for the ones that they will sell to gamers. *grumbles*
I need a new card and have simply quit gaming because I can’t get one for a decent price.

Bought my GTX 1050 TI for $130 on Black Friday.
Sold it for about $230 recently.
Bought a GTX 1060 3GB for $280. Basically, that means I bought a GTX 1060 for $180, or below MSRP...muahahahahahahaha!

I’ve been waiting a long time! My wife refused to let me buy one last year, then the prices shot up and she was like, “you can have one for your birthday”, but by that time they were so expensive that I refuse to spend the money.
I dream of these days, but by then a new generation of cards will probably be out...
Playing games on a cell phone sucks.

I bought a GTX970 of a friend for 120$ and it arrived today, all dat sweet, glorious graphics power. But yes, GPU mining to die so the prices drop, and the NAND shortage to also go away so i can afford more RAM please.

I would appreciate some advice for a newbie. One of my kids has zero interest in cars- like, he’s almost 16 and doesn’t even want a car - but wants to build a gaming PC. I figured what the hell, can’t be as bad as a QuadraJet carburetor! So he has saved up some cash, I’m watching YouTube videos and we’re going to build ourselves a PC.
But the freakin GPU is now like half his budget. WTF?!?
Any suggestions for finding a GPU for a $1000 build? Wait for the crypto crash? Build it with a super cheap one and upgrade later? Buy a clone on EBay? Continue yelling at the clouds?

4GB cards should probably start to become real cheap soon. They apparently cant mine etherium on 4gb cards pretty soon is what I have heard. rx580 maybe?
